Resumen de la Conferencia
The Vaca Muerta Formation holds immense promise, but unlocking its full potential requires a fundamentally different approach than the manufacturing-style methods applied in North American shale plays. While unconventional plays everywhere share basic drivers (storage, flow capacity, and stimulated rock volume), the way these elements interact in Vaca Muerta calls for real-time, integrated engineering and geoscience.
This presentation will explore what truly drives performance in unconventional reservoirs, beginning with a discussion of storage and flow capacity. We’ll examine why high pore pressure and unique rock fabrics in Vaca Muerta lead to horizontal fracture bias, and how that can reduce effective propped stimulated rock volume if not properly managed.
The session will introduce a framework for understanding fracture geometry diagnostics, supported by modeling insights on how frac design, and development strategies affect outcomes. Case studies will demonstrate how modifying completion parameters can reduce casing deformation and improve well performance. Finally, we’ll look ahead at strategies for successful Upper Vaca Muerta development, with a focus on applying adaptive, real-time decision-making based on rock-specific behavior.
